It’s been a full shooting weekend for me, and it ended last night at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens with a moody engagement session for Irene and George. They brought all the energy, laughter, coffee, and books - and their interactions together were simply full of that genuine love you can’t force or pose.
How did you meet?
We met by chance at a party in college. We had both recently gotten out of long term relationships and weren't looking for anything serious. Turns out the best things come when you aren't looking.
How did he propose?
He planned a whole trip to the Outer Banks which is one of the places we were originally looking at for a wedding venue. We always watch the sun rise when we go on a beach vacation, but during this trip there wasn't a single day of nice weather. We went down to the beach anyways "just in case", and he proposed to me. The only part of the proposal I remember is that he opened with "Imagine there's a sunrise". I didn't even know he bought an engagement ring yet!
For the Groom | What do you love most about your girl?
She's always willing to challenge things she feels are wrong both personally and systematically. She has her own goals and ambitions and works hard to achieve them. She helped me grow into becoming my own person and really pushing me to be who I want to be as opposed to trying to live up to other's expectations or follow a path they wanted me to follow.
For the Bride | What do you love most about your guy?
He always puts in the effort to make up for whatever percent I am lacking (if I can only give 40%, he'll put in 60%). He knows that I have a hard and stressful job, so he puts in extra effort around the house to make sure that everything is getting done. He makes it a point to be home early enough every day to make me a home-cooked dinner (and lunch) before I leave for my night shift. When he runs errands by himself he always brings home something that either reminds him of me or something I love. He likes seeing me happy when we do things I love even if it's something he doesn't love - traveling, going to ballets or baseball games.
