This couple is near and dear to my heart, not only because Ashley and I connected right off the bat months and months ago at that little Starbucks and we then shared cat yoga and a boudoir session together, but the special love and bond that I see between this self-proclaimed nerdy couple takes my breath away.
Having first met Ian on his wedding day, he was more than everything Ashley had talked him up to be, and I was enamored with his confident character and the humor displayed between him and his friends. This was that rare groom who asked me to take his photo multiple times throughout the day, and you know that makes me giddy! As he teared up and had to compose himself during the vows that Ashley had created just for him, to recreating the way he proposed during their first look, I could tell how much this man loves his woman.
And their sweet wedding ... it rained, and rained, and rained, but God held off the water just long enough for their outdoor ceremony and portraits, because He is good. And there were hiccups throughout the day, but at the end of it all, Ashley and Ian and their loyal family and friends gathered together and made delicious lemonade out of the lemons that were tossed their way. It was beautiful to see and experience.
And everywhere you turned, there were odes to this couple and their individual personalities and shared interests. From the Harry Potter bunting and comic book flowers to the pre-ceremony video games and matching Aristocats pins donned during the first look ... from the hand written vows and hand fasting to the wizard wands waved during the recessional, this was the kind of wedding that makes both my eyes and heart happy. Being uniquely who you are as a couple and person and celebrating that along with the love in your souls makes a wedding day perfect.
